This year first grade performed an entirely new play, "The Mice From Outer Space". The students did an amazing job and were the cutest mice in the Milky Way! On behalf of the teachers, we would like to thank all of our wonderful and supportive parent volunteers for making the production out of this world! And last, but definitely not least, a huge thank you to Mrs. Johnson, the best music teacher in the galaxy!
This week was Read Across America in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday. Throughout the week students wore silly outfits and partcipated in Seuss themed activities. We had Read and Feeds with Mrs. Welton, Ethan's mom, and Mrs. May, Alex's mom. Today, to celebrate the final day, we had a special visitor from Mrs. Cat in the Hat, aka Mrs. Sterner, Brooks' mom. Here are a few pics of the festivities. To all of the awesome moms that came to read, THANK YOU!!!
Today celebrated the 100th day of school!!! In honor of this milestone students and teachers dressed up as the cutest centarians ever! We paraded around the school, participated in 100th day stations, and even wrote about the things we will do when we are 100! It was a blast!
Today we had a special guest...Amelia Bedelia!!! (Keaton's grandma) She read her favorite book and brought us delecious apple parfaits. The recipe was in her book and she brought us each a copy! Yummy!
We have begun studying weather! Students will learn about seasons, types of weather, and to measure weather. If your child finds any newspaper articles, magazine articles, or any weather information, please send it in. Here are a few of the students' weather observation pictures.
Thanks to all who attended tonight's Open House! It was so nice to meet all of my new students and your families. First grade is full of exciting learning and growth! I look forward to getting to know each and every one of your children. My website will be updated constantly with class information and is a place to share what's happening in your child's education. At the top right you will find the menu button to access all pages. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or place a note in your child's purple folder. Also, be on the lookout for more information! Have a great last weekend of summer and I am so excited to see everyone Monday morning!
For their STEM Day activity, first graders were given toothpicks, marshmallows, and a shape reference chart. Using their knowledge and materials, students created 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional shapes we've been studying.
